Altrusa International of Rochester, Inc. is the local chapter of an international service group founded in 1917 by Mamie L. Bass.  Altrusans can now be found on every continent, offering service opportunities and fellowship to thousands of women, and recently, men.  We are part of a  smaller region known as District Two,  which encompasses NY, NJ, PA, VA, MD, WV and DC.  In these larger networks we share fellowship and ideas for service.

Our club meets monthly to plan our many outreach projects,  listen to inspiring speakers, and connect with those who serve around the Rochester community.

Here in Rochester we support many local projects , especially those which serve literacy and women in transition.  We might participate in their fundraising and/or join with them in direct service.

We invite you to consider being our guest at a meeting and getting to know our mission, projects and service philosophy.  Our mission is to reach out to individuals or groups in areas of women's needs, literacy and the environment.
